Sukkot begins on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei (Erev Sukkot is on Sunday evening, October 16th) and continues for seven days. It is known by several names, none more descriptive than Z’man Simchataynu, Day of Our Rejoicing. Hag HaSukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, reminds us of the huts (sukkot) in which our ancestors dwelt in the desert for forty years on their way to the Promised Land. It concludes with the festive Holiday of Simchat Torah !
