What is Purim Jewish holiday ?

This year, Purim a Jewish holiday will be on March 23-24,2016. Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from Haman, who was planning to kill all the Jews. According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus, planned to kill all the Jews in Persia.
It seems, Esther, in going before the King does not take that opportunity to tell him her needs even though he has asked Her request. Some how she senses that he may not receive such a revealing request. Because she will need to reveal that she is a Jew in order to save her people and it would feel awkward to expose this in such an abrupt manner and public place. So she says something very curious ; And Esther answered, If [it seem] good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him. Why did she say for him ? Why didn’t she say for us, or for you ? Is she sending a subtle suggestion that there might be something going on between her and Haman ? At that banquet the king asks again for her request, this time she answers slightly differently,
"Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request [is] ;
If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said."
Is it a possibility that the reason the king cannot sleep that night is because he is bothered by how Haman fits into Esther’s request ? Haman apparently also is not sleeping that night and finds himself in a perfect position to receive a great honor the king wishes to bestow.... and what a great opportunity to get rid of Mordecai the Jew ! As he relates to the king his vision of a great honor.... the king surely hears something that bothers him even more than the possible design Haman might have with his Queen.
Haman says ; "For the man whom the king delighteth to honour,
Let the royal apparel be brought which the king [useth] to wear, and the horse that the king rideth upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head :
And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man [withal] whom the king delighteth to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour."
Is the king hearing that Haman desires the Throne.... and perhaps his Queen ? If so this would be the perfect set-up for Esther to reveal her request. Now it will not look like she has deceived the king in hiding her identity but exposed an enemy to the kingdom of Persia.
